Policy on Women’s Application, Entry, Acceptance, and Participation
- Purpose and Scope:
- The Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) is committed to promoting equal opportunities for all individuals, regardless of gender, and fostering an inclusive learning environment. This policy outlines the guidelines and procedures concerning women’s application, entry, acceptance, and participation at LPU, in accordance with the principles of non-discrimination and gender equality.
- Non-Discrimination:
- LPU strictly prohibits discrimination against women based on gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, marital status, pregnancy, or any other protected characteristic. All policies and procedures related to women’s application, entry, acceptance, and participation shall be implemented without bias.
- Application and Entry:
- Women applying to LPU will be subject to the same admissions criteria and procedures as all other applicants.
- Admissions decisions will be based on academic merit, potential for success, and alignment with the university’s programs and values.
- LPU will not discriminate against any woman based on personal attributes or circumstances unrelated to her academic qualifications.
- Equal Treatment and Opportunities:
- Once admitted, women students at LPU will be provided with the same rights, privileges, and opportunities as their male counterparts.
- Women students will have equal access to all academic, extracurricular, and support services offered by the university.
- Support Services:
- LPU is committed to providing a safe and conducive learning environment for all students. Women students will have access to counseling, support, and resources to address any gender-specific concerns they may have.
- The university will offer programs that promote women’s empowerment, leadership, and personal development.
- Anti-Harassment and Gender-Based Violence:
- LPU maintains a zero-tolerance policy for any form of harassment, including sexual harassment and gender-based violence.
- Procedures for reporting and addressing harassment will be transparent and responsive, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
- Maternity and Parental Support:
- LPU recognizes the rights of women students who become pregnant to continue their education and will provide appropriate support and accommodations.
- The university will facilitate a supportive environment for women students who are parents, promoting work-life balance and access to necessary resources.
- Gender Sensitization and Education:
- LPU will incorporate gender sensitization and education into its curricula to raise awareness about gender issues and promote gender equality.
- Faculty and staff will receive training to ensure they uphold gender-sensitive practices in their interactions with students.
- Monitoring and Evaluation:
- 9.1. LPU will periodically review and assess the effectiveness of this policy to ensure its alignment with evolving best practices and legal standards.
- 9.2. The university will collect data related to women’s application, entry, acceptance, and participation to identify any disparities and implement corrective measures if necessary.
- Complaints and Grievances:
- A clear procedure for lodging complaints and grievances related to this policy will be established, ensuring confidentiality, fairness, and timely resolution.
- Implementation:
- This policy shall be disseminated widely within the LPU community, and adherence to its principles will be the responsibility of all faculty, staff, students, and administrators.
- This policy shall be reviewed and updated as necessary to reflect LPU’s commitment to providing an inclusive and supportive environment for women’s application, entry, acceptance, and participation at the university.
